A. Bouras is currently on leave at Qatar University where he holds the Professor Scientific Chair position of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ictQATAR), at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering.  A. Bouras was Full Professor (Exceptional Class) at Université Lumière of Lyon (France), Deputy Director of the DISP research laboratory and Director of the CERRAL innovation and knowledge transfer center. In 2011 he has been conferred the Honoris-Causa Doctoral Degree in Science of the Chiang Mai University (Thailand) from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand.

Research activities

A. Bouras current research interests focus on architectures for lifecycle engineering, and information modeling including ontology construction, semantic consistency, intelligent products modeling and digital preservation. He published over 200 papers and was invited as visiting researcher in several institutions: USA (NIST), Thailand (Chiang Mai), India (IISc Bangalore), Mexico (Pachuca), China (Fudan Shanghai), etc.

He guided more than 20 PhD students in these fields. Some of them were/are co-advised with international higher institutions from EU, Africa and Asia.
