The DISP (Decision & Information Sciences for Production Systems) laboratory, EA 4570, belongs to several institutions (INSA-Lyon, University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and University Lumière Lyon 2) and was created on 1st January 2011.
It originates from the axis “Organisation, control and integration” of the LIESP laboratory (Laboratory of Informatics for Enterprises and Systems of Production, EA 4125).
The research carried out by DISP deals with the design and application of decision-making methods and information systems in order to improve the performance of systems producing goods and services, networked companies and global supply chains.
The originality of this laboratory is its skills both in Industrial Engineering and Computer Science for companies. These skills allow studying the organisation and control of production systems in all their dimensions, viz., technical, organisational and human.
In the area of Industrial Engineering, DISP has recognized skills in company modelling, methods and techniques from mathematical modelling, operational research, simulation, and game theory for planning, flow optimisation and coordinating activities in distributed organisations.
In the area of Computer Science for companies, its skills concern the interoperability of the information systems of companies, standardisation, knowledge modelling, and development of computer architectures and platforms for managing the data about products all over its life cycle.
These two areas of skills provide DISP with a recognised know-how in the alignment of decision, information and operation processes, and puts it at the forefront of the management and control of networked companies.
The main research questions addressed by DISP revolves around the problems related to the analysis, modelling, organisation and control of systems as complex as networked companies. The objective is to understand the complexity of such systems via an analysis of their organisation mode, the study of the information/decision systems, and the design of behavioural models based, in particular, on simulation and optimisation. It also aims at addressing the following challenges:
The application fields are manufacturing companies as well as service companies with a particular attention paid to hospital systems. DISP laboratory had 18 professors and 18 PhD students on 1th January 2011 split between the following 4 institutions of the PRES “University of Lyon”: INSA Lyon, University Lyon 1 et University Lyon 2 and EM Lyon.
